Adrian e Richie gravaram um álbum juntos. No dia 10 de Dezembro de 2020 foi divulgado o single Taking My Chances nas plataformas digitais. O single foi divulgado no Breakfast with Paul Anthony no Planet Rock.

Smith / Kotzen é a eletrizante colaboração entre os guitarristas e vocalistas Adrian Smith e Richie Kotzen. Vizinhos em tempo parcial de Los Angeles, amigos em tempo integral com um respeito mútuo saudável. Ambos os artistas são performers experientes no palco global, tendo aprimorado suas habilidades ao longo de suas carreiras para criar seu próprio som musical único.
A faixa de estreia 'Taking My Chances' dá o tom para esta nova parceria entre dois pioneiros do rock. Gravada em Turks & Caicos no início de 2020, a música evoca as bandas de rock clássico dos anos 70, atualizada com ganchos vigorosos, harmonias e virtuosismo de guitarra.
Adrian Smith é mais conhecido como um dos principais guitarristas do Iron Maiden, tendo também obtido sucesso como artista solo. Richie Kotzen é o frontman do The Winery Dogs, além de ter sido o guitarrista de Mr Big e Poison durante sua longa e aclamada carreira, que até agora o viu lançar mais de 20 álbuns solo. Ambos os artistas também são compositores prolíficos.
Adrian comenta: “Acho que Richie e eu nos complementamos muito bem. Ele é um guitarrista virtuoso, mas tem um ótimo senso de melodia - a coisa toda parecia muito natural. ”
Richie acrescenta: “Encontramos um terreno comum no rock clássico e baseado no blues - ambos viemos dessa mentalidade. Temos escrito e gravado juntos no ano passado e estou em êxtase com os resultados ”.

BMG are thrilled to announce that two of rock’s most admired musicians have joined forces for an exciting new side-project. Smith/Kotzen is the electrifying collaboration between guitarists & vocalists Adrian Smith & Richie Kotzen. Part-time LA neighbours, full time friends with a healthy mutual respect. Both artists are seasoned performers on the global stage, having honed their skills throughout their careers to create their own unique musical sound.
Debut track ‘Taking My Chances’ sets the tone for this brand new partnership between two rock music trail-blazers. Recorded in Turks & Caicos at the start of 2020, the song is evocative of the classic rock bands of the 70’s, brought bang up to date with punchy hooks, harmonies and sheer guitar virtuosity.
Adrian Smith is best known as one of Iron Maiden’s principal guitarists, having also enjoyed success as a solo artist. Richie Kotzen is the frontman for The Winery Dogs as well as having been the guitarist for both Mr Big and Poison during his long and acclaimed career, which has to date seen him release more than 20 solo albums. Both artists are also prolific songwriters.
Adrian comments, “I think Richie and I complement each other really well. He’s a virtuoso guitarist but he’s got a great sense of melody - the whole thing just felt very natural.”
Richie adds, “We found common ground in classic and blues-based rock – we both come from that mentality. We’ve been writing and recording together for the past year and I’m ecstatic with the results”.
