AFSF: Did you meet Adrian in 2005/2006 when he invited your band (Sik Th) to play in Dylan Smith's birthday or have you met him before?
Mikee:I met Adrian around year 2000, was a friend of a friend of the family. A long story, but yea it was year 2000.

 

AFSF: How did the invitation for the Primal Rock Rebellion come up?
Mikee: After we played Dylan Smith's Birthday Party, Adrian called and asked if I wanted to jam with him. He had some songs he wanted to see what I thought.

 

AFSF: How was it like working with Adrian Smith?
Mikee: An incredible experience. He is so calm and wise, very encouraging and also a very inspiring person to be around.

 

AFSF: How do you prepare yourself during the composin process? Do you seek for inspiration or just let it go?
Mikee: I often live my life and take in a lot of experiences. I also like to observe this world and it's goings on. Then let the words come to me. For vocal and musical inspiration, I just either let the music someone wants me to sing on conjure my ideas. Or I channel ideas, and improvise.

 

AFSF:  What message do you try to pass through your compositions?
Mikee: If you mean lyrically, it changes with each song. If you mean expression wise it also changes. But I believe you have to express yourself, and be yourself in this life. That's where the special ideas are.

AFSF:  I really fancy the vibe in "No Friendly Neighbour". Which Primal Rock Rebellion song do you consider to be the most intense and deep?
Mikee: Well, it depends in what context. Lyrically Mirror and the Moon is Deep, so is White Sheet Robes. And also songs like Tortured Tone, Search For Bliss. There is a lot of beauty, but also a lot of pain on that album lyrically. As a deep vibe musically I think I See Lights is a great dark groove.

 

AFSF: How did you Sik Th fans accept Primal Rock Rebellion? Do you think the majority liked or disliked? What is your opinion about the haters?

Mikee: I don't think PRR was given a chance by a lot of SikTh fans. Unfortunately. SikTh fans really just want to hear SikTh, so it's very hard to show anything else. If people genuinly did not like it, I understand peoples opinions. But I hoped people would have given it more of a chance.

 

AFSF: How have you began in music? What are your biggest influentions?

Mikee: I began listening to Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath and Metallica. Moved on to Sepultura, Pantera, then to Cannibal Corpse. Over to Korn from there.

 

AFSF: Lately word on the street was that some artists have said Rock died. One example of this is Gene (Kiss). What is your point of view in this matter and what was the biggest setback you had to face in the Rock world?

Mikee: The experimentation within Rock Music is on a decline for sure. A lot of newer artists just want to play the same old songs and regurgitate the same old sound. I actually have a song inspired by this on my new album. Also record companies are too scared to sign new artists, and would rather sell records to fans of a certain era or genre, than lose their jobs taking a risk on something different. So there for it's a tiring and boring place to be! But I still believe in new and exciting music and want to continue to put it out, however little backing I get from record companies etc.

 

AFSF:  Would you work with Adrian again?

Mikee: Yes, I would love to.

 

AFSF:  Talk a little bit about Sikth so that the Maiden fans get to know it a little better Mikee it was a honour for us form AFSF to interview you. Once again thank you very much for accepting our invitation

Mikee: Well SikTh are an experimental pioneering metal band. I think the best way to check a band out is by listening to them, so check em out. Thanks again, nice talking to you!!

AFSF: Como foi trabalhar com Smith?

Mikee:Foi uma experiência incrível. Ele é muito calmo e sábio, muito encorajador e uma pessoa que realmente te inspira ter por perto.
 

AFSF:  Mikee como é que você se prepara durante o processo de composição? Busca inspiração em algo ou simplesmente deixa fluir?

Mikee: Eu geralmente vivo minha vida e tenho várias experiências. Eu também gosto de observar este mundo e as coisas que estão acontecendo. E então deixo as palavras virem a mim. Para inspiração vocal e musical, eu ou sigo a música que alguém quer que eu cante ou conjuro minhas ideias. Ou eu canalizo ideias e improviso.
 

AFSF: Qual a mensagem que você busca sempre transmitir em suas composições?

Mikee: Se você fala liricamente, isso muda em cada música. Se você fala de expressão, isso também muda. Mas eu acredito que você tem que se expressar, e ser você mesmo nessa vida. É aí que as ideias especiais estão.

 

AFSF: Gosto bastante do feeling que você transmite em “No Friendly Neighbour”. Qual a canção do Primal Rock Rebellion que você considera mais intensa e profunda?

Mikee: Bom, isso depende em qual contexto.Liricamente, Mirror and the Moon é profunda, e White Sheets Robes também é.E também musicas como Tortured Tone, Search for Bliss. Tem muita beleza, mas também muita dor naquele álbum, liricamente. Como um bom feeling musical, eu acho que I See Lights tem uma vibe escura excelente.

 

AFSF: Como teus fãs da época de SikTh recepcionaram o Primal Rock Rebellion? Acha que a maioria gostou ou que detestaram e qual a sua opinião sobre os Haters?

Mikee: Eu não acho que muitos fãs de SikTh deram uma chance para PRR. Os fãs de SikTh querem ouvir apenas SikTh, então é bem dificil mostrar mais alguma coisa. Se as pessoas genuinamente não gostassem, eu entenderia a opinião delas. Mas eu esperava que eles dessem pelo menos uma chance.
 

AFSF: Como você iniciou a sua vida musical? Quais suas principais influências?

AFSF: Nos últimos meses andaram circulando reportagens relacionadas ao pronunciamento de artistas que disseram que o Rock morreu, um exemplo disso é o Gene (Kiss). Qual a sua visão sobre isso e qual a maior dificuldade que você teve de enfrentar no mundo do rock?

Mikee: A experimentação dentro do rock está em declínio, certamente. Muitos novos artistas querem apenas tocar as mesmas músicas antigas e regurgitar o mesmo antigo som. Eu na verdade tenho uma música inspirada nisso no meu novo álbum. Também, as companhias fonográficas estão com muito medo de assinar com novos artistas, e iriam preferir vender álbuns para fãs de uma certa era ou gênero, do que perder seus empregos se arriscando em algo diferente. Então isso é um lugar chato e exaustivo para se estar. Mas eu ainda acredito em música nova e excitante e quero continuar trazendo isso, mesmo recebendo pouco auxílio das gravadoras e etc.

 

AFSF: Trabalharia novamente com o Adrian?

Mikee: Sim, eu adoraria
